No one expected motorcycle rider Debbie Widrig, 44, of Interlochen to survive her massive injuries after she was hit by a semi-trailer and dragged 40 feet down the highway.
Blair Township EMS transported her to Munson Medical Center where she received 11 units of blood before being taken by North Flight helicopter to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids.
“I had so many injuries, they didn’t know where to start,” Debbie said. “I’ve had 12 surgeries so far. If it wasn’t for North Flight, I wouldn’t be alive today. They stopped the bleeding and they got me where I needed to be. I just want to say ‘thank you, thank you, thank you.’ I’m doing really well and I’m happy to be alive."
